Sobre a tradução do termos "Knecht"

Resumo

RESUMO: Na Fenomenologia do Espírito de Hegel encontramos o emprego do termo “Knecht” fazendo referência ao indivíduo que perdeu uma luta e que então está sob o controle de alguém. A palavra “Knecht” tem sido traduzida para outras línguas com diferentes termos, que usualmente são seguidos de justificações do termo selecionado. O propósito deste trabalho é analisar como o termo “Knecht” deve ser traduzido para o português, tentando encontrar qual é a melhor palavra para descrever o indivíduo chamado por Hegel de “Knecht”. Primeiramente, é apresentada uma avaliação das opções de tradução do termo “Knecht” que são apontadas por alguns tradutores e comentadores da Fenomenologia do Espírito. Em um segundo momento, considerando que Hegel faz uso do termo “Sklave” em outras obras, algumas passagens são citadas para apontar as semelhanças entre o sujeito chamado de “Knecht” e o sujeito chamado de “Sklave”, a fim de mostrar que estes dois termos na maior parte do tempo se referem a um mesmo indivíduo.

ABSTRACT: In Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit we find the use of the term “Knecht” referring to the individual that has lost a fight and now is under someone else control. The word “Knecht” has being translated to other languages with different terms, that usually are followed by justifications of the selected term. The aim of this paper is to analyze how the term “Knecht” should be translated to Portuguese, trying to find which is the best word to describe the individual called by Hegel “Knecht”. Firstly, it is presented an evaluation of the options of translation to the term “Knecht” that are pointed by some translator and commentator of the Phenomenology of spirit. Secondly, considering that Hegel makes use of the term “Sklave” in others works, some extracts are quoted to point the similarities between the subject called “Knecht” and the subject called “Sklave”, in order to show that this two terms mostly refer to the same individual.
